Hi there, Iooking for advice regarding a suitable species of pleco, other than a BN for my discus and Altum angel tank. Preferably a smaller type. I have tried an L397, but to no avail.

I had a couple larger sized (approx 300mm) sailfin Plecos for a while in my 6fr planted tank. Not the best for a planted setup. No apparent issues with discus but crapped everywhere and damaged some of the plants. They'd be perfect in a rock/drift wood tank setup if you were chasing a simpler setup with no plants.

I think L333 is more active than others, is a good price and looks good

It's strange, have no problems with my Altums and Heckel cross turks discus. No dramas with my sterbais or BN either, but have not been able to keep other L series cats. Temperature? 28c.

The L46 (Zebra pleco) is a good choice. Its a dwarf pleco, really nice, but unfortunally very expensive.
