media for eheim 2260

Hey guys
I'm setting up a 4x2x2 discus tank and I'm using a 2260for filtration
There will be a few plants in the tank but mainly discus and Tetris

What media should I put inthe canister for best filtration and clarity if the water

anything will do really the 2260 is a monster, to save money you could fill it with old school ceramic noodles or sheets of biomat. if you wanted the best possible performance fill it with pond matrix and regular matrix, but that will cost you $$$

I was thinking 2litres of noodles and 2litres of substrate pro and something else
What benefit would the matrix give me?
