Water gH - Purigen

Does anybody know about Water hardness and the use of Seachem Purigen. I have a bag of Purigen in my sump and have been told it will maintain the water gH. Does anybody know if this is correct and what is the best gH for Discus?

purigen will have minimal effect on GH is any at all. discus like it soft so the lower the gH the better, too low though and you will have issues with stability. i like about 3degrees gH or about 80-120ppm
