Hi All,
It appears that Big L is not available at the moment. (Atleast anywhere in Darwin).
It has been suggested that Coopers NILVERM is "identical" and available!!!
Does anybody know if it is useable for the tank?
NILVERM
ACTIVE CONSTITUENT: 16 g/L LEVAMISOLE HYDROCHLORIDE
equivalent to 14 g/L LEVAMISOLE
Big L
Active Constituents
• Levamisole Hydrochloride 16g/Kg
I have just finished the preventative course of Gill Fluke and Tapeworms and noticed Merrilyn(?) does the Big L aswell.
Any help much appreciated
Thanks
Ian

Hi Ian,
Can I recommend you contact discus planetarium in the members section and acquire some Kusuri plus, excellent product, easy to use and very effective.

Hi needspeed, We use Big L because it's aquarium safe, and contains no sugar. Levamisole removes nematodes and I don't think Kusuri (as good as it is) treats nematodes. It's mainly for flukes, roundworm, hookworm and tapeworm (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). They need to be used in conjunction so you eradicate all the intestinal worms.
I'm not familiar with Nilverm, but so long as it doesn't contain any sugar it should be okay. Sugar will cause a bacterial bloom in your tank, which is we don't use bird wormer. It contains sugar to make it more palatable.
Maybe if you can list the ingredients here, ILLUSION will be able to give us some more information.

Sorry Merrilyn been busy at work.
sounds like just a drench and the instructions say to withhold water before dosing and to mix with water for birds, i assume it contains no flavour enhancers (sugars) if they recomend to withold water the night before.
no responsibilty accepted if you get a bacterial bloom id sugest testing 1ml in 7L of water in a glass bowl or jar and leaving it in the sun for a day to see if you get a bacterial bloom. if not it should be ok.

I have been using Kilverm instead of Big-L for a couple of years now with no ill effects.
Same same but different. Kilverm also adds a touch of blue colour to the water for a short while.
Locally one is around $30 and the other is about $22. :D
Same dosage as Big-L, 1ml per 7 litre of tank water.

Dave
