sorry to hear what happened,however the product you describe I have used many time without a problem,although morphs often shrink up for a while.Also this product only controls green algae.The red slime is not an algae but an bacteria that has to be controlled with an antibiotic.Talk to your local retail shop,they should sell a product called Red slime Remover.turn off your protein skimmer and remove any carbon.it works very well.Good luck
