So I've had my first 8 discus for 8 days now, and they ate some frozen beefheart from my hand today. I'm pretty stoked about this, none of the other community fish I've owned have done it.
There doesn't seem to be any real benefit to hand feeding, the beefheart still goes everywhere, but I predict that behaviourly this practice will encourage the discus to feel safer around me/people. They're still a bit shy at the moment, especially if I turn on the twin T5HOs above them.
Is this a benefit of hand feeding? Are there other benefits, or even risks?
