Feeding Regularity

Just a quick question but how often should I feed my discus?. I know only to feed them enough for five minutes. I have been judging whether I am overfeeding them by the amount of algae on the glass, my reasoning, that if there are excess nutrients in the water it will be contributing to the algae, therefore I am feeding them too much?.

A lot of varables go into algae growth so I wouldn't rely on that method. I try to ensure there's not excess nutrients from left over food or excrement ever. Siphon it out and regular wc. I reckon it depends on the size of fish you are feeding as well, you'll pump more into fish you are growing out than mature fish. I reckon you just have to watch the overall condition of the fish over weeks and make sure they're in good shape, nice and thick. You can also see the stomach swell when they've really had a lot, but don't do this, better to feed light and frequent rather than heavy and seldom.
