male annoying the crap outta the female

whenever my cobalts lay the female is fanning and mouthing the eggs and the male is there jus continuasly annoying her. can anythin be done other than seperating them?

I have a pair that do that all the time after spawning they fight on who has to attend to the eggs and end up eating the eggs.If it gets to fry stage they eat the fry.
I had to removed the female and let the male care for the fry..
I'm using a egg creat devider now instead of removing the female.

Remove him. The female is quite capable of rearing the fry on her own.

Put a mesh divider in the tank. It will maintain the pairs bond without having to remove him to another tank.. When the fry are mobile enough you should be able to remove the divider.
