I keep a sponge filter in my main tank in case I have to move any sick fish into the hospital tank, which I have had to do recently due to gill flukes. Now I am wondering is it safe to move that sponge filter straight back to the main tank with just a rinse in hospital tank water or will it be carrying parasites, thus infecting the main tank?

Thanks
David

I would give it a good wash and dry it out for a couple of days to be on a safe side. It doesn't take long to seed a sponge filter.

If you treated the tank then you would have treated the filter too.
