Bought 4 new 3"- 4" discus recently which are now in a 2'x1' quarantine tank. Doing 70% wc daily. 1x Big L treatment done so far.
I used a sponge filter from another cycled tank but it seems to be sending the ammonia up.
Last night my ammonia reading way too high and my wc water was way to cold,
so I took the filter out and put it in a bucket & replaced it with an airstone.
Did a wc using water out of an established 5' discus tank (the tank is 5', not the discus  ).
Can I just keep changing 70% of the water daily and ignore the filter until it cycles again or do I need to use another sponge filter from an established tank to get through the quarantine period?
Thnks in advance,
Old Dave
