Is there any advantage to having coloured lights eg marine blue over the white fluro in a discus tank?. I just have the standard overhead lights in a hood with an AR620T tank.
Thanks.

I find a marine blue and a grow red with a white creates the most perfect lighting discus display!
It supplies their scales with all the desirable spectrums for their scales to refract to your eyes!
Hope this helps mate. ;)

Do the different light colours assist growth with plants or fish....or are they just for visual effect?.

If you have plants in there, they are fantastic for growth!!
Other than that it is purely just to boost the desired light spectrum's! :)
