canister filter media

what other filter media, beside carbon should i use in my Fluval canister filter? Is an amonia bag useful?

depends if your running a mechanical or biological filter. Fluval would have supplied you with some filter medium. Im using nitra zorb pouches on the bottom, then ceramic noodles, cotton wool, then more noodles. Hope that gives you a hand
