what are these little fellas

I was changing my water tonight and came across heaps of these funny looking little guys they look like little snails (hard outside soft inside) and i was wondering.
1 whats are they?
2 are they dangerous.
3 where could they come from?

1 whats are they? pesky snails that breed like rabbits

2 are they dangerous - hard to get rid of think plague proportions if left unchecked.

3 where could they come from? any new plants added lately?

i do have a fair few plants in my tank and a few new ones but there seems to be a fair few of these little snails, how do you kill them??

they are ramshorn snails they breed like rabits your best bet is a squad of 3-5 of the smallest clown or yoyo loaches you can find then move on the loaches once they hit the 10cm+ mark
