Laetacara curviceps

i picked up some Laetacara curviceps (Dwarf Flag Cichlid)
today
at 3-5cm big 10 of them
putting them in a 2ft so they will pair off
only want 1 pair
how long before they do pair off i have
not had them before
but i was thinking they are like any other cichlid
with pairing off (2 fish down at the bottom and all the other
up at the top looking for a place to hide lol)
i had cichlids for yrs many yrs but they was the africans
and the big S.A. ones i am trying the dwarfs now
so i going to need some help i think lol

hi yanke,
i've had experience with Laetacara sp. bolivien which for all advice would pretty much be the same i believe, the only difference is they have verticle stripes in the rear 1/2 of the fish.
pairing off you will probably find a few pairs & they pair off quite young, a 2ft tank is sufficient for a grow out tank if apropriately filterred although i wouldn't have anything by the 1 pair in there once mature. mine paired off at maybe a touch over 5cm & i had 2 pairs from 4 simultaneously in a 3ft.
breeding them isn't difficult, they'll spawn in there own time & only really require a good diet, good soft slight acidic-neutral pH & a spawning site. they've spawned for me on a flat rock or anubias leaf. really there isn't much to it & are a great beginner dwarf. an appropriately sized fry food's your main concern, smaller fish tend to have smaller fry & microworms seemed to work for me.
they're great little fish & i can't see why they aren't 1 of the most popular fish in the trade... but that's said about 99% of dwarf cichlids.

well thanks for that
but i watched them pair off the pair had the other 8 on 1 side of the tank so out they came
put the 8 of them in my discus tank its a 6ft with only 6 small discus
then went to work i work night
i come home and checking out the tanks and i seen it
eggs on a flat rock i put in there (the pair in the 2 ft)
i only had them 4 day wohoooooo

well i was going to move the curviceps today
i looked in the tank and i found that they have fry in with them
wohooooooooooo
i got them on the 10th dec. and they had eggs but lost them
and now again but this time they did not eat them and we have fry
