Green water

So could some one please tell me, what exactly is green water.

I have been harvesting mossie larvae out the bag yard for some time, and one of the containers I use has gone decidedly green. I haven't changes the water in this container for about two months, just topped it up occasionally.

Green water is a suspension of fre floating single cell algae and infusoria
