Cacatuoides Life Expectancy?

In your experience, what is the life expectancy of Apistogramma Cactuoides?

A cacatuoides should keep to 4 years, maybe longer, if kept well eg: in near ideal circumstances. Not that I have ever kept them that long. My gibbiceps however have been with me close to 3 & a half years now although I do lose the occasional fish these days.

I have done a lot of research and as usual opinions vary greatly. Some say 2 years is a good run while others say 4+ years is normal. This is why im after everyones personal experiences.

I had come across that thread previously. They seem to want to discuss Apistos as a whole rather than by species.

I think the variation has a lot to do with how people keep them:

High temperature = short life
lots of food = big quicker = short life
lots of breeding = short life

longest i've kept a cac (one of my males) is three years. two is more typical in my experience.

2 years seems quite short seeing as most good quality specimens i see in LFSs look to be 12mths+ already.
