sun sun lighting hood

Hello my sun sun lighting hood needs repairing as two of the t5's are out (have checked tubes and they are fine) . Thinking maybe the starter needs replacing. Has anyone pulled these things apart before? Is it likely to be a standard starter or as it is chinese will I struggle to find matching starter in Aus? The hood is one of these Jebo style filter and lighting hood all in one.

B: Take your failed components to Calmatronics in Melbourne (just up from Vic Market) and ask them - a great place for such stuff.

t5 use electyronic ballests not magnetic, as such they dont have a "starter" the asian ballasts are crap, they are designed and rated for 220v 50hz not 240v 50hz as we use in Oz.

you can replace the ballest with a decent one from an electrical supplier but budget ~$45-$100 for the part.
