Aqua soil ????

Can i put river sand on top of aqua soil ? Or will things go bad ?

I would think the sand will work itself into the aqua soil and compact it.
I understand one of the benefits of the aqua soils to be their open structure, allowing water and nutrients to circulate around the roots.
Have a look at the aquariumlife site for some good info if you have no luck here.
