Pico Contest Gauntlet of 2010
Pico: An environment equal to or less than 2.5Gal / 9.46Lt.
Contest: An event where individuals engage in competitive natures.
Gauntlet: To throw down or accept a fitting challenge.
Each respective word alone, they are just words! Mix them in the one sentence, & we have something that resembles Discus Forums FUN!!!
A proposition if you will, to those worthy of the challenge.
1) Create an unrestricted environment or setup within the volumes set out above.
2) 30 Day duration Build-off Competition
3) Unrestricted use of materials or livestock (Betta's as default choice given volumes)
4) Minimum 4 Pictures displaying the build process, & 2 Pictures displaying the final build.
5) Minimum 250 word write up explaining the build process & anything else you'd like to share.
6) $5 entry, the culmination of such entrance fee's goes to a site sponsor for transfer into online store credit to be spent by the winner as they please.
7) International entrants encouraged to compete however standard conversion & international postage fee's apply. (Product dependant of course)
8) A poll of site votes unanimously will decide the winner.
What say you??

I love the idea, however wouldn't it not be better to increase the size to 20L? I belive that is the cut off for marine pico's?
Then you could include other fish species and shrimp?

marine pico's go all the way down to 1 gal.
Its a somewhat hazy boundary and often dictated by who's running the show at the time. Mate, ive even pushed that envelope last year sometime & gone even smaller than that.

You'll find more often than not its down to the competition. Many just give a common tank size thats available at multiple known locations & say run with that!
All good ideas though, im ok with what the majority wants, however small usually represents cheaper & hence greater participation in most cases. (if you have a parts bin, its super cheap).

Yeah I know marine picos can be less than 1 gallon, what I meant was increase the size to equal or less to 20L but the more I think about it the more I like the size you have suggested. Will lead to more creative thinking I think.
