Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and new to discus. I haven't even got my tank setup yet but it's in progress.
Just wanted to ask if I can use a standard 3ft tank to raise 8 juvies up until 1 year old ? Is that possible with a bare bottom fish tank and plenty of water changes?
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

How many liters is that tank mate?
I am no discus expert, but most people say 40-50 liters per adult fish, so maybe 30L per fish untill one year old?

It's ok as long you're VERY diligent with maintaining water quality.
You'll see many grow out tanks (standard 4ft for e.g) full if small juvies, but they're either heavily filtered, recieve frequent large water changes, or both.
As they grow their numbers reduce through both natural attrition and culling.
LD is correct in saying 40-50L per adult fish, so by 1 yr old they'd be considered aldult by then so you'll need to either re-house to a larger tank or reduce numbers by half.
HTH ;)
