Fin Problem

I have a very mature tank and noticed two weeks ago one of the discus has all but lost one of the side fins. The fin has gone and only the upper and lower part is left. Its like the middle of the fin has just been rotetd away all the way down to his body. This morning I noticed another fish with again a problem with a side fin with a hole in the middle of it. It seems like the fin is rotting from the middle of the fin.

Should I simply dose with salt ?

Salt will help right now, but there must be a problem, what are your water parameters? mature will not always mean good! :?

sounds like a very aggressive form of bacterial fin roth but that should effect all fins on the fish.

add salt, try a higher dose @ 1tsp/20L see if that helps slow the degredation and begin healing, also maybe use a half dose of a water ager with some Aloe in it like the hagen one.
