Whats the upper limit for Nitrates?

< 10 for Discus other tropical fish can tolerate up to 40ppm but discus prefer low nitrates.

My water is 20ppm coming out of the tap. I know that everyone aims for lower, but not even a water change will bring mine down & I do not want to use RO water.

My discus are happily swimming around in my water, some of them since 2006.

EDIT: correct typo. I meant water coming out of the "tap" not the "tank"

I'd think it would be in the upper 100's. Can't be good for them but they'll "tolerate" it.
