I hope Discus keeping gives you as much enjoyment as I get.
Just keep an eye on it for signs of stress if you're only getting one. They're a schooling fish so normally happier in groups.

Thanks . I know that will be getting more. But i live in canberra . Most the discus here look more like severums. I will be going up to sydney to by a few more. I figure he will be better of with me than slowley dying in the fish shop. excuse spelling in a rush.

Not true unfortunately. You will be far better off buying all your fish in one go from one supplyer. If you don't, (unless you have another tank and another set of equipment for 6 weeks + quarentine) you will just plop the new fish in with the old and cross infect your fish. I know of so many people who have killed their fish because they have rushed in and bought random fish.
Patience is what is needed. Select the right fish for you from one trusted source.
If you don't, the next post will be in the emergency room asking for advice on my sick fish.

Start off right and save a lot of money and heartache.
