Erect tube from male BN mouth

My male bristlenose was acting weird today. He was sitting on a large rock away from his cave, and flapping his fins. A large 1 cm erect tube about 3 mm in diameter was sticking out of his mouth ... but his colour .... so I am thinking it is part of him. What is this anyone know ?

Bit worried. Is this normal ?
