wtb: Eheim 2217 filter urgent

Hi,
my filter is leaking on my discus tank and i need another filter. If anyone has a Eheim 2217 for sale let us on. Will a Eheim 2217 be fine on a 500ltr tank plus another 1200ltr filter as well.

Any idears on how to fix it, its leaking from the around the seal i think. There is water slowly dripping out where the head goes on to the cannister.

Maybe try a new O-Ring. Try lubing the current O-ring up with a bit of Vaseline. It might help to stem the flow of the leak until you can sort out a more permenant solution.

Will give that a go, it dosent leak all the time, like now its not leaking but when my son grabbed it and shook it the leaks started again.

Hi AXL,

As suggested try some lube on the "O" ring. Also check for any small obstructions/particles that may be adhering to the "O" ring or the top of the canister.

grease the o ring with silicone grease or vaseline

while your there make sure all other seals are in good order.

a 2217 will do fine on 1/2 a 5 footer but wont be big enough to be your only filter.

Will try that also do you have to take the o ring out and then vaseline it or just leave it in place and apply vaseline.

Yes take the 'o' ring out & clean it & the groove well, then lightly coat the 'o' ring all over with the Vaseline.
I do this every time i clean my Eheims & other canisters & none of them leak.
