Hi all
My source water is very soft ie GH can't get a drop test reading, Kh approx 0.5 with drop test, TDS 35 ppm.
My question is how do i harden my water. I thought of, say an air driven box filter with coral gravel but i've been told that coral gravel should not be used for discus water ?
Help would be appreciated.
Regards
Hampson

I normally use coral gravel in my canister filter to keep the hardness and PH stable.

Cheers

Never had any problems, you want a nice slow leach of co3 to keep the water stable, i use 1-1 and 1/2 tsp/100L , just pop it in an old stocking and your done

Sorry that was CaCo3, I use cursh coral at the rate of 1 teaspoon per 100L of water just place it in a mesh bag in the canister filter

yeah I knew you could use crushed coral but I was unaware of a "safe" amount to use that wouldn't bump the pH up too high. I would rather have the problem of trying to bump it up a little than trying to get it down.
