As the title says I have 2 eheim 2217 filters. Both in good condition with all attachments , no leak or cracks. I upgraded my tank so I want to upgrade to a bigger eheim. They both have eheim sponges in them but no ceramic noodles as I have used that myself. Other than the eheim sponges I did not use other eheim media and they worked a treat.
$140 each if anyone is interested. I can post to anywhere but you would have to cover the cost.
Cheers

didn't think the 2262 was released in australia i though the biggest we got was the 2260.
to be honest the 2080 is a much better buy, just as good filtraion at less then half (just over a third) the power consumption of a 2262. the 2262 is a 2260 with a 1262 pump on it instead of a 1260. the 1262 uses 80W of power

Hi Kath
Sounds like a great tank - bigger capacity than my 7ft. All the best with it.

Don't suppose you have one for sale Jothy? Is that the eheim with the 3 hoses?

Does the 2080 have the same leakage issues that some of the Pro II are prone to?
Could one 2080 replace 2 x 2028 on a 138G?
Only problem is that I have hydor in-line heater installed on each of the 2028's. One hydor wouldn't be sufficient to heat 138G. How do you reckon it would go with 2 hydors installed in line on one 2080?

2080 fixed all the problems with the pro2 series the build quality is fantastic mine has no leaks at all despite how i treat it, if you wanted to use 2 inline heaters i dont see why they wouldn't work in series, as their internal diameter is larger then the 16mm hose they wont cause any flow restriction

Thanks Jothy
So, one 2080 would would give me enough flow in a 7ft tank?

oops, sorry. Meant to also ask would the media from 2 x 2028's be enough to fill one 2080. I assume I would need different sponges though.

MY 2080 Filters my 6x2x2 with no problems, for more flow i added a power head at 1 side then a DIY tower filter just for fun.
the media from 2 2028s will be plenty for a 2080. it ships with sponges so you shouldn't need to buy any

I always think of power heads as blowing the discus around too much, but it's probably all about getting the right size power head.
The main issue is if I can fit the 2080 into the cupboard !

its BIG a fair bit taller then a 2028 and 2x as wide

Might be an issue. I've downloaded the dimensions, so will do a measure !
I hate my cupboard !

If your cabinet has a suspended floor (as most do) you can just cut a hole in the base and sit the filter on the floor it should give you an extra 2-4 inches of height.

I've thought of that, but is it heavy at maintenance time, to lift up and out of the hole?
If I don't cut a hole, I have 24" of height. If I used elbows (from Bunnings) at the hose connectors, would this give me enough room. I'd need to use elbows anyway, to be able to attach the heaters on line.
Yeah, I know I already asked about the heaters ..... but I'm still wondering. There's only one return line & so both heaters would be one after the other on that hose.
The 2 hydors, currenlty each at one end, according to manufacturers instructions, are stretched to their maximum heating the volume of the tank.
Would two in a row heat the volume of a 138G? Or would I get hot spots & cold spots? Silly question?

generally the heaters are going to get as hot as they get and transfer heat to the water running past them, if 1 heater cant get the water hot enough the 2nd heater should, it wouldn't matter if they were inline or on 2 seperate hoses.
if you were really worried you could put one on each of the intake hoses, but ime one hose always flows faster then the other on the pro3's intake.
as for your space problems i'll have to measure mine tonight but i dont think 24 inches will give you enough space.

Thanks Jothy
I thought size might be a problem, but it would be good to know for sure - then I can stop considering that particular filter.
If you could measure yours, that would be a help.
