I am new to the forum after a 25 year absence from Discus and fish in general. 25 years ago, diatom filters were all the rage but I dont see much about them now. Are diatom filters still a good idea for Discus? I already have a reverse Osmosis unit, but what are the deionizers I have read about? are they benificial?

diatoms are great for polishing water, but you wouldn't use one 24/4 they clog.

maybe just for an hour of 2 after a water change to remove any super fine particals

These are 2 links I have found after a quick search. They seem to be something like an RO unit, but somethings different.

Ta mate, i dont think you need one living in oz, our rainwater is top noch, besides if you've got an RO unit your water is already super pure.
