Denitrater

Has anybody heard of, or use, a denitrater?

I was at my LFS the other day and heard one of the guys talking to somebody about one of their tanks and said something about a denitrater. If they did have them Im sure they would be expensive, but it would greatly reduce the amount of water changing that would need to be done!
