well I can only assume your trying to mount a plant on a piece of driftwod. Regardless, I don't think your Discus will hang themselves on a rubberband. I have them (rubberbands) in numerous tanks with a myriad of 'sensative' fish so I think you'll be fine.

Yes you can as stated above BUT the rubber stretches really fast I think it might be the warm water. If you are mounting a plant tie it on with some fishing line. It does not loosen and will not break and it is invisible. HTH

I am no angler but last time i tried fishing line it was a real pain to tie knots in,

I had some good success with some cotton from the girls sowing box!!!!
