current metro rates

are the rates for metro treatment still the same as this ?

In Water
25mg / 1 Litre (or 250mg/10L)

dosage once every 48hrs (30% WC between treatments) for 3 treatments.

In food
1gram (1000mg) metro / 100g of food

3 feeds a day, for 3 days (or is it 5days??)

if so the following would be correct?

metro comes in 200mg tablets, it would take 5 Tablets (200x5 =1000mg) to dose 100grams of food.



( I m in Australia FYI )

1. I have tried a doctor, and he wont give me any as metro is a perscription only, and if he gets audited it wont look good on him 4 giving out metro if not needed by a human.

2. I tried a couple of Pharmacies but they wont do anything without a perscription from a doctor or vet (vets under certain circumstances can write out human perscriptions)

3. i tried a couple of vets but they said they cannot give me any without first seeing the fish first as it would be illegal to give me any otherwise. Vet consultation $50 + perscription fee + cost of Meds.

4. Finally found one Vet who will sell it over the counter to me, but its $16 for 2 Tablets (200mg) !!!

i just got a tray of beef heart from the LFS.

it is 100gram and has 35 cubes.

so if i got 5 tabs, crushed em up, defrosted the beef heart, mixed in the metro. and refilled the cubes in the tray and refroze, that should do 2 cubes per feed (4 fish), 3 feeds a day = 5 days + breakfast on the 6th ;-)


can i mix the crushed metro tablets straight in with the defrosted beef heart or do i need to disolve it or sumthing first?

(i m working with 200mg metrogyl tabs here to)
