sponge filter????

hi all
I have just bought a sponge filter a hydro-sponge IV to add to my 60gal tank its
says you can use with or without air stone does it matter???

hey bob,

i don't know about that brand in particular but i would guess that once it has been run in the filter would work on any water passing by it, the air stone would assist in moving water through the sponge and therefor be more effective.

i could be wrong but i would go with the air, all of my tanks are air driven with sponge filters and i can't see how it would collect detrius without having this extra little boost

Could be they mean it can be air driven with an airstone or that you can add a power head to it. Either would move water thru the sponge effectively.
