No one is saying that you cannot keep fish from different sources together. But you have to realise the RISK you are going to take if you do source from different places.
All fish carry pathogens, disease, bacteria or worms, and by taking a fish from here, a fish from there you increase the chance of them being infected by eachother. The thing is that not many people quarentine their fish properly, everyone is always too impatient to see the fish in one tank. QT take a minimum of 6 weeks to perform correctly. Can you wait? Can you run 2 sets of equipment? Can you treat or diagnose the problems should they occur?
Do a search on proper Qt procedures. The real result of getting fish from different sources is that you can kill ALL of your fish. This is why we generally stay with one trusted supplier.
