Hi DF'ers,

I was reading this post
http://www.discusforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18321
and was wondering if you could tell me if my discus was also stunted?

I want to know if the LFS where im buying my fish are good quality.

Thanks Hollowman.

Is 'Stunting' frowned upon in the discus community just like 'tail docking' is frowned upon in the dog community?

I'm trying to understand a little.

and even though he is, lol there is no need for the sad face, George is much loved and very happy, i take care of him and his tank mates as i would my own child. I change about 40% of water every day for him and feed him frozen and live foods alot for nutrition.

I printed off Merrilyn's beef heart mix and am so excited to go buy and prepaer quality food for my baby.

If fed quality food and has a large enough tank, will even a stunted discus grow up big and strong? if not, how big do you think they will grow?

Thanks

I wouldn't put it in the same category as docking since it's not done deliberatly for asthetic reasons. Usually it's a sign that the fish hasn't been raised in perfect conditions with lots of food during the growing period. But as long as you care for it, it'll be a healthy happy fish and as far as I know there's no way a stunted discus can pass on the condition to it's offspring.
