Hi guys and girls,

I have been checking out these forums for about 3 months now.
I am still 'raw' to keeping a healthy aquarium, but i love every second of it.

I started out by buying a 3 footer setup with a Eheim canister filter (only the best for my fishies :) ) originally for my girlfriend, but i seemed to be doing all the maintenance. So i kept maintaining it and fell in love with the hobby!!!!!

I just bought my second aquarium 3 weeks ago for my Snakeskin (which i keep in the community aquarium) because all you lovely people say their best kept with their own type. (he is a beautiful fish who i love just as much as i love my girlfriend!!!! )

I recently had a water problem, for some reason, all my fishies were gasping for air at the top of the tank, ammonia was fine, just above 0, but nothing serious, Nitrite was 0 and nitrate was about 10, so i thought to myself, i need to do something!!!!!

I read through a few forum posts and thought, the best thing to do was a 100% water change.

All my fishies are back in the 3 footer now (untill Georges new tank is cycled that is) .... George is my Discus..... and George is fully flared and brightly colored again.

I guess this is more of a 'thank you so much for saving my beloved Discus' post than an introduction, so i should say a bit about me. I live in Melbourne, Australia. Bought my first ever aquarium about 6 months ago and have never looked back. I prefer now, to sit down and watch my fish then to sit infront of the tele.

I have a Gourami, 5 baloon mollies, 5 peppered cory's. 4 Red fin sharks (i need to get rid of a few as when i bought them i didnt know they were so territorial), some mixed tetras, a few suckers, a 2 inch snail and most importantly, my treasured Snakeskin dicscus.

I intend to be a regular in these forums and learn all the tips of the trade from all you experts out there.

I know im going to enjoy keepng fish (especially Discus) for many, many years to come.

P.S if there are any Melbourners here that want a jouvy red fin for their community tank IM me, 4 is way to many for my tank, i dont want them to go back to the aquarium as i dont know WHO would get them, i want them to go to a good home. I wont charge for them, aslong as you promise to take care of them. their still pretty small, about 2 - 3 inches.
I will give 3 away and keep the 4th.

Heath.
