Found this statement a bit amusing on a blog I came across today.
"In about three weeks time, you’ll have to move the fry into a special tank as it is not uncommon that the breeding discus fish be injured by their own babies who eat their scales for instance. "
I suppose no scales would get rid of a few parasites.

I've had fry head "holes" in the side of my female rose red, never big though 4-5 scales max, but a scaleless fish = dead fish.

I haven't looked at too many fish blogs until today and it's a bit of an eye opener that's for sure. Too many Clickbank wannabe's everywhere that probably haven't even kept fish let alone Discus so the misinformation is rife. I reckon half these guys should go buy Wordtracker or something similar, they'd soon find out the search numbers on fish keeping/breeding are crap.

G'day Illusn, hope all is well in sunny Penrith and the Discus are thriving.

You know, thinking about it, I reckon Mel ought to write an ebook on breeding fish. Now that would be worth promoting.
