hey guys.
I got a pair of Rose reds that lay once a week, problem is that the male eats the eggs as yhe female is laying them, as soon as they touch the cone he dines on the caviar.......any one have any ideas how to persuade him not to do this?

How do you know it is a pair?? it could be 2 females

just seems to wanna eat instead.

try feeding him with more food. more live worms etc and maybe he will make that switch

How old are the fish Rex? If they are young he could be going through the usual learning curve which time wise can vary considerably depending on individual fish.

they are a bit over a year old......i have a pair the same age and they are model parents.....why cant they just look on and learn...lol

If you have a pair that are successful at 12-15 months then you have done very well indeed. Just give the other guys time, they'll come good, just might take a while.
