Hi everyone,

few quick question for all the plant experts!

What size cylinder (the most convenient) should i buy for a 90 gallon tank. i already have the co2 reactor, regulator, and PH meter. all by Milwaukee (spell check?).

How often do you reckon i will have to refill? And will my plants be fine (and my PH meter) while i refill, or should i buy a back up cylinder?

If it maters, the tank is running a 700 GPH wet dry, magnum 350 diatom filter.
Also the height of my stand is custom; it is 34 inches tall.

:D Thanks!!! This is my first time using co2... other than the sugar/yeast/water in a Gatorade bottle with a small pipe coming out of its top

Ok the bigger the bottle the longer it lasts the less times you have to re fill the more time you have to enjoy your tank etc etc etc.
if your in australia our sponsor Aquarium supplies Australia has a 6.8kg cylinder that will last you well over a year, refils arnt too bad if your in syd they can refill it for you.

i'm tight, i use old fire extinguishers a 3.5kg on my 4x1.5x2(tall) lasts a good 9 months, refils are bout $50

i like having a spare, i have a spare 3.5kg bottle and a spare 500g bottle just in case 2 extinguishers run out at the same time, generally a few days without co2 wont hurt your plants too much.

Thanks Illusn! I live in S Florida; hopefully we too have a place where i can purchase a used extinguisher! I will have to check. Knowing our laws though, i wouldn't doubt there being some silly law stating: we cant recycle fire extinguisher cylinders! dodgie!

may i ask how much the extinglisher cost you in the first place illusn? i am thinking of doing this in my next tank. i am not sure which way i will go, normal cylinder or fire extinglisher.
