Combining juvenile discus with adults

Is it possible to keep a group of juvies with a pair of adult discus fish in the same tank if there is space enough ?

It's possible .... yes, but ideal ....no.

The youngsters never seem to do as well as they should with adults in the tank.

The asian breeders feel it's so important to keep similar size fish together that they sort through their tanks every week. If they find one fish not doing as well as the others, it is put in a tank with smaller fish.
