canister filter

I am looking to buy a second hand ehiem canister filter but it has been used for a saltwater aquarium and I want to use it for my discus. Will it be ok?

I dont see why not. I would get yourself some new filter media of course. Give the cannister a good clean, use a bleach solution to kill any nasties, rinse out so you cannot smell the bleach, and away you go.

What cannister is it?

It's a nice eheim. Not sure what size but new it's about $600. It's not even 12 months old and still has warranty. I got the filter and a 4x2x2 tank for $300. I was happy with that.
