what should be the KH & GH for discus?

It really depends on what you're trying to achieve but generally a GH of 5-8 and a KH of 3-6 is fine. The lower your KH the more work you will have to put in to Ph swings and stability but if you're breeding the softer water does pay dividends. It's just a fair bit more to look after. We're a bit lucky and have very soft water straight out of the tap so we don't need to muck around with it too much.
