Hi
What should my nitrate reading be for my discus tank?
Thankyou

Nitrate is the end product of the bio cycle, where the bacteria colony in your filter turn the waste from your fish (the ammonia) into nitrite and a second type of bacteria turn that nitrite into nitrate.
We remove nitrate from the tank by doing water changes.
A well matured discus tank should run at a reading of less than 10.
You won't see any nitrate reading on a tank that is still cycling. Once the nitrate shows up, then your tank is cycled.
