my canister filter stopped working!!!!!!

During cleaning one tiny little clip broke on my canister filter and now it has stopped working. I have an ehim internal that I can use for now but my problem being the whole cycling thing. The ehim has been used in this tank before but not for about 4 months so the bacteria on the sponge will be no good. How will my discus go?

what I really need to know is will it cycyle all over again and have all the amonia nitrate and nitrite spikes?

Yeah the tank will cycle again.

See if you can get some used media from your broken filter to use in the new one you might be able to cut it down to a mini cycle.
