Hi All,

I am an biggener for aquarium... 1 question on filter for discus fish.

Do i need to go for a Power filter or External filter...?? for my aquarium?

Could you please suggest.

They both have pros and cons but I would go with a power filter with a bio wheel. It's an all in one and easily maintained while getting a lot of oxygen lean water from the bottom and turning it into oxygen rich water. They don't put out too much current so discus will like that. I have both but just power for everyday filtering. Every now and then I crank up my can using a micro filter to pull out the miny particules. Someone else will be much more opinionated. Welcome to the forum vins.

How large is your tank, how many discus do you intend keeping and are you planning on a planted tank or bare bottom.

All those things will influence the type and size of your filtration.
