very nice, your tank is simple but looks great, wish my sand looked that white :( How big is the tank Ivo?

not a big tank at all mate. it is about 400L. my sand gets dirty and brown too but i wash it every now and then. i only keep a thin layer of sand for easiness of washing. i can only have a simple set up since too many fish in one tank.

mmm, it look like a 4' er, you must be doing water changes every day. What filtration do you use?

i change about 3 times a week but if work gets too busy then twice. i use two eheim 2217 and a aqua one 1200, and a 36W UV light. i breached the no. of discus to tank volume rule right at the beginning of my discus keeping. can't help myself i like new discus if i find them. bad example i am.

thanks scott. they certainly take up so much of my time to look after them. definitely more work than keeping two dogs but it is worth it.

Very nice. Your fish look so bright, colourful & healthy. I see you have your heckels in with the domestic's - I'm thinking of doing that too.
What sort of sand is it that you use?

Hi TW, i can't remember what type of sand it is. i did put a post in general discus discussion section before to enquire information about what type of sand won't change PH, have a look! however, i didn't make it to buy pool sand, etc, i bought mine at the aquarium in Kings Cross. a lot more expensive than if i went to buy pool sand (big mark up from the aquarium LOL). it is very white but do require washing to keep it white from time to time. it does not affect the PH perhaps you can try.
