Is it normal for discus to be more active during the night?

Very soon after turning off the light at night time, they become more active and start doing laps and explore the tank. The two discus that i have seem to be playing and follow each other.

During the day they tend to hide behind the driftwood and dont explore the tank as much. But they come out and are very happy when they get fed.

Hi Kiu:

If they are about 10-12 months old, and they happen to be a male and female, chances are they might be getting paired...

You tank must have been in a place of high activity (people movement, high light, etc.,) hence the refuge during lights...

During the lights-off and with less movement around the tank, they might be more comfortable to do "Merry-go-round"...

Anyway, keep watching...
Bye,
