Hi,
Just started GH & KH testing and never done it before.
Always been able to control PH and water changes so didnt think I needed too but seems I should after reading up.
Can anyone explain what levels should be for appistos, it seems to be a grey area?
I also have a few bolivian butterflys, some rummys & cardinals (corys too)

depend which species you are talking about
romer list 3 sets of water parameters generally called clear white and black water
clear very low mineral content pH 4.5-6.5
white cloudy and turbid due to high mineral load pH closer to neutral
blackwater is basically clear with hummins an dtannins added so again low mineral content and lower pH

Thanks for reply fishgeek,
I am only new to fish so still dont understand this GH & KH stuff.
I have appisto caccatoide pair and one female aggazzii
As well as the ones listed above.
I have been running the 220l tank with PH 6.6 - 6.8
Doing small water changes (20 - 25l) every 10-14 days.
I use airated tap water but leave it in the sun for 24 hrs before change.
All nitrites, nitrates and ammonia is always 0
Can you enlighten me further with this additional info?
Thanks

My experience is agassizi and cacs are one of the most adaptive species and you shouldn't need really soft/acidic water for them (especially for the cacs).
Similarly your tetras, cories and Bolivian butterfly won't like condition that's too acidic.
So I would keep the tank's pH between 6 - 6.8 (slightly acidic) for what you've got.
