What are some of the basic guidelines one should religiously follow to maximize the growth of Discus ? :)

I'm not as experienced as some on here, but the general ule of thumb is feed little and often (3-4 x per day), at least 40 litres of water per fish, preferably more, keep nitrates as low as possible, preferably below 5 ppm. I have also read that stress can stunt growth, so avoid ph and temp shock with waterchanges by heating and aging the water beforehand.. you may need to consider PH buffering too if there is a big difference between the tank and your aged water...
