benkk,

I will shortly have a 2228 for sale which will be perfect for your tank.

PM me for details.

Thanks,
Dave.

An Eheim 2227 Classic would be better.

Can you please tell me why is it better ?
Coz it's my first time that i am going to buy an Eheim filter which i would like to get the right one and use it for ages.....

I got a 3.3foot tank about 200L

Thanks a lot

2217 is better than a 2226 because of the media capacity, a 2217 holdds around 5.5L of media v's around 4.2L in a 2226, more media, more bacteria better filtration, the flowrate isn't really as important, even so at full stick the 2217 has 50l/hr less then the 2226.
the 2228 holds a good 6L of media (a little bigger then the 2217) with the same flow as the 2226, hence it is a better filter. for a 200l moderately stocked discus tank you want either a 600L rated eheim (2217, 2228 or 2028) good rule of thumb cut the max capacity of a filter by half with constant maintanence for a discus tank, of by 1/3 for a bit more of a safty net.

Oops I mean to write 2217 !!!! (typo error)

ILLUSN is right as usual :) I'd also like to see you go with an Eheim 2228 Pro or 2217 Classic over the 2226 because of the extra filter media capacity.

The Eheim Classic filters are a little more fiddly/messy to service than the newer models with baskets, however I am totally impressed with my recently purchased Eheim 2250 Classic (17L canister capacity and 12L media capacity) and cleaning it is actually remarkably simple and easy. I don't own a 2217 Classic but I assume it would be a similar cleaning process. Eheim Classic filters are also able to boast 100% filtration of all water passing through the filter due to their zero bypass design. Other Eheim canister filters have virtually no bypass as well but not all canister filters can claim the same. On some of the 'cheap' canister filters the bypass is quite significant and this really degrade's their performance, meaning potentially unhealhty fish.

I also happen to run an Eheim 2228 and it's a very good filter, with the only advice I have regarding its use is to plug the internal connector of the head unit into the internal downtube instead before mounting the head unit back onto the canister, as sometimes they don't quite mesh correctly.

Otherwise the Eheim 2228 is a solid workhorse and runs virtually silent.

Greggy

Nope, i got 1 too much bypass, ant the quality of the plastics in the spraybar and intake arn't as good.

just wonder....
If i am going to set up a good filter system.

2 x 1200L filter VS 1 x 2200L filter
All good quality one ...

Which is better off ?

2 gives you some safty for
1. cleaning
2. something going wrong (breakdown)
3. if ever you need to get another tank running FAST you can pull off a filter for a couple of weeks whi;e a new one cycles.
