Hi,
I have 4 discus in my 4' X 2' X 18" tank with another big size black angle. I feed them chicken liver day before yesterday night and yesterday morning. After that one of them became furious. I did 40% water change last night and unfortunately forgot to switch on the filter. Today morning I found that one of the Discus died  . I had two 1.5" and two 3.5" discus in the tank. I still did not understand why the one of the large one died.

I dont know whether this is the right place to post this message but I thought some body should not do the same mistake like though I am still trying to figure out what went wrong.

I have an air pump running. But unfortunately that was also switch off after changing water last night.

And about furious? Let me tell you the situation. Both the big discus always used to stay together. But yesterday one used to run behind the other one. It was looking like other one has done some major mistake and he was behind him to punish him.

I am planing to remove all the sands and live plants from the tank and will put them in an empty tank and will feed beefheart mix so that my fishes grows. From last 3 months my fishes did not grow at all. Will this be a good idea to go ahead with?

probably died because you turned off the filter and air, they shouldn't die overnight but you said that they havent grow for three months, so i'm guessing they're not exactly in the best of health. could be anything but this is my best guess.

Sorry for your loss, always hard to take.

Question though, did you turn on your filter when you realised that it was off in the morning? was the fish dead before you turned it back on?

I realized that the filter and the air was off in the morning by that time the discus was already dead. after taking that out i turned on the pump and filter.
